Hyperactive, rubber-faced Robin Williams is one of Hollywood's most popular and enduring funnymen, best-known for his free-association improvisation abilities. Having never wanted to be a performer, Williams discovered theater and standup comedy while in college and never looked back. After studying at Juilliard, he landed his breakthrough TV role as Mork on Mork & Mindy in 1978, making "nanu nanu" a catchphrase for the ages. He quickly moved to features, becoming well-known for his ability to bring the funny. The list of his hits over the years is long … The World According to Garp, Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Mrs. Doubtfire and Aladdin are among them. In 1998, he received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Good Will Hunting.

On turning 50: "It's not that desperate midlife thing … 'Goddammit! I've got to find a 30-year-old!' No, it's more, I'm going to do those things that really interest me. I'm going to find things I really believe in, well-written pieces with interesting actors and directors. I'm going to be a good husband and father. And God willing, I'm going to be able to urinate without too much exertion and pain."
